From "Who are you?" to "What do you want to do?"
A K-12 support portal made educators identify themselves before it offered any help — a structure that mirrored the org chart, not the user's goal. People bounced off the site and phoned support instead.
I diagnosed the identity-first flow as the root problem, rebuilt the information architecture around user tasks, and made the interactive prototype. The client's in-house research team then ran a moderated study with real educators; we designed the research together and analyzed it jointly.
